Henry Vales, Executive Director

A proud American born in Merida, Mexico, Henry served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army. He graduated cum laude with a degree in business from Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee and received his MBA from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. A Miami native for the first part of his life, Henry and his family moved to Orlando in 1989.

Mary Ann Johnston, Program Administrator

Mary Ann has attained more than 25 years of success in private non-profit and university grants development and administration. Her past employers have included the University of Central Florida, The Florida Hospital Foundation and the Orlando Science Center. During her career, she has written countless grant proposals and managed more than 200 grant and contract awards totaling more than $68 million dollars. She was a member of the team that developed and executed the strategic plan and capital campaign to build the Orlando Science Center in Loch Haven Park, completed in 1997.

					Claudia Hunter - Program Coordinator -State Schools of Character
					Claudia Hunter has been in the education profession for over 40 years. She started her teaching career in Missouri with a BS degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri in 1968. She taught high school physical education and health while coaching girls’ softball and volleyball at Lee’s Summit High School. She earned a Master of Science from Central Missouri State University in 1972. During her 22 year tenure for the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District Claudia taught all grades, K-12 and touched many lives.
