The Golden Rule Foundation Tapped As A National Points Of Light Foundation Winner
The Daily Point of Light Award honors individuals and volunteer groups that have a commitment to connect Americans through Service to help meet critical needs in their communities. It focuses on the goals for children and youth set by the President?s Summit for America's Future. Each weekday, one volunteer effort in the country receives a Daily Point of Light Award. Today's winner is The Golden Rule Foundation based in Maitland, Florida.
The Golden Rule Foundation's mission is to inspire children to give to others by providing a hands-on Service-Learning program to children in grades K-5 in Central Florida elementary schools. Last year, alone, The Golden Rule Foundation spearheaded 92 service projects at 44 elementary schools. As a result, over 3,000 children had the opportunity to reach out and help others, while simultaneously understanding the role they are capable of playing in their own communities.
We are thrilled to have been selected to be recognized for this honor. Said Rachel Hamman, Executive Director of The Golden Rule Foundation. We are told by the by the teachers, students and agencies involved in our program, just how beneficial our program is on a local basis, but it never hurts to have a national service organization sit up and take notice.
Dick Batchelor of DBMG, Inc. who nominated The Golden Rule Foundation said, The Golden Rule Foundation is dedicated to investing in our youth. They deserve to be recognized and commended for their commitment to creating a legacy of philanthropy and volunteerism for the children in Central Florida.
